Importance of This Seminar:

With thousands of Syrian students returning who have been educated in non-Arabic language systems, there is a growing need to discuss teaching strategies and approaches tailored to multilingual learners. This will help them overcome expected language barriers and simultaneously build knowledge and Arabic academic language skills in a safe and supportive environment.

  • Language of Instruction and How It Differs from the Spoken Language (Prof. Helene Kammensjö)

  • Strategies for Teaching Arabic (Dr. Moamen Al-Anan)

  • Multilingualism and Building Bilingual Learners: Towards a Supportive Language Policy (Dr. Mahmoud Al-Ashiri)

  • Practical Examples of Strategies and Methods for Teaching Science Subjects to Multilingual Students (Mr. Ammar Haddad)

  • Discussion with attendees on strategies to create a safe classroom environment that encourages the participation of multilingual students in educational activities.
